Since 1950, the Ohio State University payroll service group had archived all payroll records for past and current employees. All records were maintained in 500 binders comprised of antiquated computer printouts on green bar paper or index card files. An Ohio State University employee (current or retired) would arrive at the Ohio State University office with a request for payroll information. The Ohio State University payroll service group would process the request and be required to provide a response within 24 hours.

Given their procedures in place, Ohio State University requested that Coleman Data Solutions review the request and provide Ohio State University with an accurate, efficient and cost effective solution to ensure they were able to deliver on their promise. Coleman Data Solutions prepared a work flow chart and determined a simple micrographic solution would ensure Ohio State's needs for an image and retrieval solution were met expeditiously at an affordable rate.
Coleman Data Solutions transferred all paper documents to 105mm microfiche and then keyed and verified the employee's name. The end product was then provided to Ohio State University to reside at the payroll service group information desk. An employee request could then be processed in a matter of minutes...no time delay and no expensive retrieval equipment required! A simple solution at a reasonable cost.
